How To Find Us

CMU College of Makeup Art & Design is housed within Toronto’s famed Old Fire Hall. Built in 1898, this historic building has served as a fire station, comedy venue for The Second City, and residence of Gilda’s Club. CMU purchased the building in 2011 and was excited to restore this important city site before moving in January 2012 from our prior location in northern Toronto. This move allowed CMU to develop larger, new state-of-the-art classrooms and new features including our expansive prosthetics lab.

CMU is located near one of Toronto’s main intersections, Queen and Church Street. We are a short walk from the Queen subway station. Surrounding the school are dozens of restaurants, libraries and museums. Several bus routes and streetcars stop near the school.

Students Living Outside the City

The TTC connects to GO Transit commuter trains and buses, Ajax/Pickering Transit, York Region Transit, Brampton Transit, and Mississauga Transit. There is an additional fare to board these transit systems. You can find website links to these transit systems on the TTC web site.

Driving Directions From the Airport

Pearson International Airport is located 34 km (20 mi) from downtown Toronto. In average traffic conditions, the taxi trip from the airport to the school should take 25-35 minutes. Some taxis and all airport limousines will charge a flat rate, about $55 CAD. Take Highway 427 south to the Gardiner Expressway east into downtown Toronto. Exit at Jarvis Street, turn left onto Lower Jarvis Street then continue down Jarvis. Turn left on Lombard Street; CMU is at 110 Lombard Street.
