CMU's COVID-19 Health & Safety Plan

Current public health guidelines require that anyone that has tested positive for COVID-19, has symptoms, or has had close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, or has symptoms, must self-isolate for 14 days. CMU will ensure that staff, faculty and students do not come to work/school sick.

CMU has established screening and attendance measures that include ensuring staff, faculty and students with COVID-19 symptoms go home and self-isolate for 14 days and seek medical advice through Telehealth or their healthcare provider.

  • If a staff member, faculty or student reports any flu-like symptoms, including a fever, cough, and/or shortness of breath, or other symptoms that may be indicative of COVID-19, they will be sent home and advised to consult a medical practitioner.
  • If tested positive for COVID-19, the return to the school will depend on the direction of a physician or local Public Health Authorities.
  • If the person who has tested positive and has attended the school or been in contact with other staff, faculty or students within the 14 days prior to the confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis, CMU will notify other staff, faculty or students who may have been in contact with the individual that one of their co-workers or classmates has tested positive.
  • Affected co-workers, faculty and students will be notified that they should self-isolate for 14 days and seek medical advice if they display any symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Depending on the nature of the affected person's contact this may require an entire floor, office or classroom to be isolated and cleaned professionally and local Health Authorities notified for further information/direction.
  • After self-isolation, a doctor's note will be required before returning to work/school.
