In creature design students will learn how to design, construct and mould an advanced sculpted character. This course is ideal for artists interested in working in a special makeup effects lab building projects for a film or television production, animation studio or haunted house, to name a few. In creature design, students will learn how to use the tools found in a workshop environment safely, effectively and with confidence. A thorough study of how to plan a project is covered as well as how to sculpt teeth and gums and create artificial eyes. By the end of the course, each student will have produced a completed creature.
Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this program, graduates will be able to
- Effectively communicate with a film or television director and be able to design and implement their ideas.
- Use a project’s written description to develop a maquette.
- Apply their knowledge of anatomy, texture and sculpting techniques to add realism to a project.
- Apply research and design skills in order to create, sculpt and execute realistic prosthetic appliances for a varied number of scenarios.
Students will receive a College Certificate upon successful completion of the program.
