A fashion makeup artist’s career is exciting and dynamic because trends and styles change so rapidly. Students learn the fundamentals of makeup application and quickly build the confidence to design and apply advanced looks for weddings, the runway, editorial and print advertising. Students will be taught how to use the basic principles such as colour theory and skin analysis to create designs for a variety of age ranges, ethnicities and events. This will be taken even further with a thorough study of period fashions from the last century, black & white and colour photography and the avant-garde looks of contemporary fashion.

Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this program, graduates will be able to

  1. Understand the historical styles of fashion makeup as well as today’s most avant-garde looks for runway, editorial, advertising and personal clients.
  2. Interpret the client’s vision to create effective designs for runway, editorial, commercial and personal uses.
  3. Develop and maintain marketing materials to operate as a freelance makeup artist.

Students will receive a College Certificate upon successful completion of the program.
